Iván Vydareny: the Architect / Painter / Photographer
A retrospective from the works of the great personality of the 20th century Hungarian Photography
It is not really embarassing not to know him as an arhitect. It is a bit more embarrassing not to know him as a painter, but if you have not heard of him as a photographer, you should visit this exhibition right away. He was one of the most significant figures of Hungarian art-photography in the period between 1920 and the Second World War, his pictures were awarded everywhere in the world. Still, in 1969 when an art historian visited him, he received him with the following words: "I am glad about your visit, even if I do not seem to. I am an offended man, I do not take part in photography life and I have no intention to do so.  I still take photographs but only for myself. If you still feel like talking to me, come in.”
