Retrospective exhibition of Ferenc Haár (1908–1997)
In exhibitions and books the Hungarian Museum of Photography is systematically trying to take stock
of important photographers, who have emigrated and gained fame abroad on the fields of photography
(Kertész André, László Moholy-Nagy, Márton Munkácsi, etc.). The upcoming part of this series is the
presentation of Ferenc Haár, who has lived and worked in France, Japan and the USA. Selected out of
the archive of the museum and the family, we will show early social documentaries from his time in
Hungary, building- and advert-photography, which were made under the influence of Bauhaus,
additionally the most important images of his periods in Tokyo and Hawai will be exhibited.
