Works by János and Marian Reismann
On of the tasks of the Hungarian Museum of Photography is to present works in forms of exhibitions
and books to the new generation of Hungarian photographers, who have deceased in the near past, but
have proven excellence in the Hungarian and the universal fields of photography throughout their
lifes. János and Marian Reismann have both individually been significant personalities of Hungarian
riport-photography from 1930’s onwards for almost half a century. They both gained fame and
importance in the Hungarian photo-history, János Reismann as a good friend and colleague of John
Heartfield, Robert Capa, Brassaï; whereas Marian as the emancipated woman photographer of the
1930’s. Both legacies are to be found in the museum. Therefore we are planing a parallel exhibition,
which, by presenting the works side-by-side, will create the chance to compare, to differentiate
between the images of two very different, in reality almost never encountering life-works.
