Magritte, using parts of his own paintings to create a „different world”, put his wife or friends in
made-up situations and took portrait photos of them.
The exhibited photos were taken in the 1930s with this special technology.
These document-like-memories are very simple, slightly elaborated. On his paintings people and
objects are equal to leaves, houses, rocks and on his photos they all remain human creatures.
Magritte plays with them.
These documents were meant to be hidden in the darkest depth of drawers. But those, who are
interested in Magritte’s complete life-work, will – for sure – be delighted.
Watching the pictures you can explore another, more sincere face of Magritte, who lived at the same
