Higher and higher.
100-year-old power-aircrafting.
Hungarian Museum of Photography, 2003, 163 pages, In Hungarian and in English,114 photos. HUF 4.600
People have had desire for a long time to break off the earth and have a look at the world from above
being overmounted details of their daily life in its real and metaphorical meaning, too. As a practical
fulfilment of this primary desire the civil power-aircrafting, starting with Bléroit’s demonstration
flight, became 100 year old in Hungary.
The Hungarian Museum of Photography preserves more than one million photos, therefore it is engaged
to show the art-objects widespread and present them as pieces of common-treasure. The Museum has a lot
of photos about the 100-year-history of power-aircrafting. Most of these items have not been published,
yet. It seemed obvious that the best way to pay our respects for the 100-year-anniversary is to organise
an exhibition from selected photos of the museum.
Among the page-size photos and short captions Károly Kincses’ essay – that reads well - describes the
100-year-old photo-history of flying.
