Engin Özendes: Exposures of an Empire. Photography in the Ottoman Empire (1839–1919)
Catalogue, 2001, 48 pages, 14 pictures, HUF 1.000
“They, the Turks and we, the Hungarian have obligations on several occasions towards one another. Plenty of obligations, which have been grownig, multiplying through history. We, the conscientious descentants are destined to fulfill these obligations.
For instance, at this exhibition presenting Turkish people, landscapes, joys and sorrows through photographs taken during the last century of the Ottoman Empire. All those things we tended to ignore while recalling stories of Zrínyi, Pál Kinizsi and the heroines of Eger fighting against Turks. Get to know and get to love – seems to be an acceptable slogan.”
