The stopped time. Film-maker’s photographs
Catalogue, 1993, 48 pages, 30 pictures, sold out
“The onthological relation between photography and film is widely known, at least since Waler Benjamin
published his study of great importance. In spite of this fact, apart from some theoretical
experiments, little attention has been paid to the comprehensive analysis of this relation. There is no
such film-maker who has not taken photographs for a while, the photographic works of some of them are
really significant... The new film of the 60s is dominated by the form of expression used in
photography. The exhibition entitled ‘ The Stopped Image’ aims at systematizing and publishing a
collection of pictures which can be found mostly in private appartments. Historians of film and
photography will learn a lot from these images and even visitors can enjoy it. Nowadays it seems to be
quite a remarkable achievement.”
