“Sources of the Hungarian photography”
Péter Korniss’ activity: Documents 1961–2001
2002, 244 pages, HUF 2.000
“Sources of the Hungarian photography”, a new series
published by the Hungarian Museum of Photography. It is a source-book. It is without precedent to study
and publish the works of a significant artist at the zenith of his career with his active
participation. The scholarly elaboration of archival and other sources are completed by the living
remembrance and the photographer’s own data, which results in a correct and precise base for further
analyses and evaluations. The book consists of the details of his solo and group exhibitions, all his
photographs, writings, interviews published in Hungarian and foreign press, electronic media and
publications as well as the details of prints, posters, advertisements which used his photographs.
During her three-year research, Márta Daróczi Kiss, the archivist of the museum studied not only the
material of the documentation unit of Hungarian Museum of Photography and Péter Korniss’ private
archive, but all the data available in different libraries, archives and collections as well. The book
presents many thousands pictures, articles, data of forty years corrected and arranged in order, in
groups.
