In the album bowing before the 125th anniversary of the joint Budapest photographs being equally important from the point of view of town-history and the history of Hungarian photography were selected, works of significant masters of the history of photography being importan in terms of townscape were collected. These independent town photographs, which can also be considered as works of art in themselves, bring artistic experience even for those who do not know Budapest. Pictures presenting buildings, streets, moments of everyday life in Budapest from 1850 up to the present are selected from the oeuvre of the most significant Hungarian photographers. The masterly pictures of the town are accompanied by descriptions of the photographers’ career as well as essays presenting data of the history of photography and the town.
