The volume presents the photographs of Gergely Palatin (1851–1927), a Benedictine friar. Palatin was a physics teacher at the grammar school of Pannonhalma monastry, he took X-ray photos, documented his physical experiments with his photographs, but also took photographs of the internal life of his order, the little joys unknown to the external world, their entertainment, and as the agricultural janitor of his order he took socio-photographic pictures of the life of the inhabitants of the neighbouring villages. The book presents 120 photographs of Palatin and also his diary.
